What to ask the landlord

Establish in writing who maintains the garden and who pays — on larger Karen and Runda plots the gardener is usually included in the rent or the service charge, but not always. Ask about water source for irrigation, because watering a large lawn on Nairobi Water rates in the dry season is expensive. If you have a dog, confirm the fencing is genuinely secure.
