Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and what you can do about it. We process personal data in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2019 of Kenya.
What we collect
From tenants: the information you give us in the matching wizard or over WhatsApp, budget range, preferred neighbourhoods, apartment type, intended use, move-in date and stay length, plus the phone number you contact us from and any name you choose to share.
From landlords: identity documents, proof of ownership, contact details and property details, collected for verification.
Automatically: standard technical data such as pages viewed and approximate location derived from your IP address, used only in aggregate to understand which neighbourhoods and pages people find useful.
Why we use it
To match you with suitable apartments, to introduce you to a landlord, to verify landlords and listings, and to improve the accuracy of our market data. We do not build advertising profiles and we do not sell personal data to anyone.
Who we share it with
Only the specific landlord or landlords relevant to your enquiry, and only the details needed for them to respond, typically your first name, your requirements and your WhatsApp number. Landlord verification documents are never shared with tenants.
We also use standard service providers for hosting and messaging (including WhatsApp, which operates under its own privacy terms) to deliver the service.
How long we keep it
Tenant enquiry data is retained for up to 24 months so we can pick up a conversation if you come back. Landlord verification records are retained for as long as the listing is active and for 24 months afterwards. You can ask us to delete your data sooner at any time.
Your rights
Under the Data Protection Act 2019 you may request access to the personal data we hold about you, correction of inaccurate data, deletion, or restriction of processing, and you may object to processing. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner of Kenya.
Security and changes
Verification documents are stored with access limited to the people who carry out verification. We review this policy periodically; material changes will be reflected on this page.
