What to ask the landlord

Ask what happens when the battery dies or the power fails — a good installation has a mechanical override and a low-battery warning. Ask how codes are issued and revoked, and insist that any code used by a previous tenant is changed before you move in. For serviced units, confirm who else holds a permanent code.
