Nairobi has some of the best consumer fibre in Africa, with Safaricom Home Fibre, Zuku, Faiba and Poa Internet all competing in the main suburbs and home packages typically running from a few thousand shillings a month for 10 Mbps up to premium tiers well past 100 Mbps. The catch is that coverage is building-by-building, not street-by-street, so a fibre-ready block is a real amenity.
Ask which providers are already terminated in the building, not which ones serve the area. Ask whether the router and package transfer to you or whether the account is in the landlord's name. If you take calls for a living, ask to run a speed test during the viewing and check upload speed, not just download.
Effectively every serviced apartment in Westlands, Kilimani and Upper Hill is fibre-ready, and most new Kileleshwa, Lavington and Riverside blocks have at least two providers terminated. Coverage in Ruaka, Syokimau, Kasarani and Rongai is good on the main roads and patchy in interior estates.
| Area | Share of furnished stock | Typical monthly premium |
|---|---|---|
| Westlands | 95% | KES 6,000 |
| Kilimani | 93% | KES 5,500 |
| Kileleshwa | 88% | KES 5,000 |
| Upper Hill | 94% | KES 6,000 |
| Ruaka | 71% | KES 4,000 |
| Kasarani | 66% | KES 3,500 |

Home fibre packages commonly run from 10 Mbps entry tiers to 100 Mbps and above in the main suburbs, from Safaricom, Zuku, Faiba and others. Business-grade symmetric links are available in Westlands and Upper Hill.
In serviced apartments, usually yes. In standard furnished lets it is typically the tenant's account, at roughly KES 3,000–8,000 monthly depending on speed.
The line does; your router does not. A small UPS for the router plus a phone hotspot fallback is what most remote workers in Nairobi actually run.
Westlands, Kilimani, Upper Hill, Kileleshwa and Riverside have the deepest provider competition, which shows up as better pricing and faster fault resolution.
Yes, in most Westlands and Upper Hill towers. Expect a higher monthly cost and confirm the landlord permits the installation before ordering.
