Choose Upper Hill if…

Choose Upper Hill if your office is a bank, a law firm or a development agency on Hospital, Elgon or Ralph Bunche Road, and you want to walk to it. Upper Hill's residential towers are new, tall and specified for professionals: lifts, generators, gyms, secure basement parking. Nairobi Hospital is minutes away and the CBD is a short run down Haile Selassie Avenue.

Choose Westlands if…

Choose Westlands if you want the same commercial density with far better retail and food. Westlands has Sarit, Westgate and The Oval, a much larger serviced-apartment market, and stronger evening life. Upper Hill empties out after 19:00 in a way Westlands never does — which some tenants read as peace and others as boredom.

Our verdict

Upper Hill for the shortest possible commute to a finance or development job; Westlands for a life outside the office. Rents for equivalent units are close enough that the choice is genuinely lifestyle, not budget.

Upper Hill's residential stock is newer and taller than its neighbours, with generators, lifts and secure basement parking as standard. Demand is workplace-driven, so short corporate lets and serviced units are well represented, and occupancy is steadier through the year than in the lifestyle suburbs.
